The idea first came when a friend of ours was sporting a pair of jeans at a super bowl party that had a LARGE leather patch on the back pocket.  Another friend struggled to read it, and Mike chimed in – “if you can read this, you’re too close!”  We tried out several other ideas while chuckling at bumper-stickers during our many travels between Grand Rapids and Nashville, our old and new hometowns, respectively.  While the ‘bumper-sticker’ itself is only on your car, if you put it on your jeans it can make more people laugh as you take it with you, and sometimes, the saying can take on a whole new meaning!  The Tailgators line was born.  But we needed more housing for all of the other ideas that began stemming from there. 

West Pole is Christian family owned, operated, and supplied out of Middle Tennessee and West Michigan.  We seek out ideas that are not only fun, but also family oriented, and positive in their meaning and witness. 

We actively seek fresh ideas and submissions from art students (and other artistes!) nationwide.  Students can visit the submission section of our site for more information on how to do this, and maybe even earn some extra cash.  CHRISTIAN YOUTH GROUPS can also contact us about possible fundraising ideas through West Pole. 

Owners Michael and Jill Vick have been married for over 15 years and are the proud parents of four children.  They have home-educated their children from the start, and enjoy listening, playing and singing music whenever they can.  They are also very active in their second church planting in Middle Tennessee, seeking to reach an un-churched working class population in their own ‘Jerusalem.’  

“Yeah, but why the name?” you ask. Because there is no west pole and we like things that are a bit quirky.  West pole, instead of east, comes from an old song that says to go west when evil goes east.  The West Pole represents being as far from evil as you can get. So join us at the West Pole: submit your clean, positive and inspiring ideas, and have some fun.  Don’t forget to ‘kick the tires’ on your submissions a few times before submission – only the best ideas with the most votes get printed!
